Does “While Using” allow background location updates?
Usually no. iOS often suspends apps in the background. Continuous background location updates generally require “Always” permission and iOS-approved background behavior.
What does Precise Location change?
With Precise Location off, apps may only receive approximate location. Distance and nearby features can become less accurate.
Does turning off Background App Refresh stop location updates?
Not necessarily. It reduces background networking for many apps, but location permission is the primary control for location access.
Where do I check an app’s location permission on iPhone?
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, then select the app and review its access level.
Why does an app show I’m far away even if I didn’t open it?
The app may have “Always” permission, a background update may have occurred, or the distance refreshed when you reopened the app. Cached data can also update with delay.
